After more than three years under an interim leadership, the Yoruba community in Katsina State has successfully conducted elections to appoint new officials.
Held in Katsina town, the electoral process was widely regarded by community members as transparent, impartial, and well-organized.
Mrs. Risikatu Bola Usman, a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), praised the election as a triumph fueled by commitment, communal love, and a unified vision for advancement.
She called for continued unity and peaceful coexistence within the Yoruba community and beyond, encouraging the newly elected leaders to foster stability not only locally but across Nigeria.
Prince Kunle Awe, president of the Association of Indigenous Nigerians in Katsina State, expressed his approval of the election results, highlighting the community’s enthusiastic involvement as a testament to their solidarity and resilience.
“The election process was commendable, and I am pleased with how it was conducted. My advice to the new leadership is to collaborate effectively and elevate the Yoruba community to greater heights,” he remarked.
Engineer Abdulrazak Abbas, the newly appointed chairman of the Katsina Yoruba Community Council, extended his gratitude to the electoral committee for their tireless efforts over recent months to ensure a smooth election.
“This achievement is not merely my personal win but a reflection of the community’s wise choice in selecting capable leaders. Our commitment is to deliver progress, unity, prosperity, and peace,” he affirmed.
The newly elected officials include Wulematu Nafiu as Chairlady, Ojo Adeola Stephen as Secretary, Aliyu Abdul Ganiyu overseeing Social Services, Ismail Nafiu Oke as Chief Whip, Abdul Wasiu Salimano as Auditor, Haruna Salisu as Public Relations Officer, Abdul Wasiu Adebisi as Financial Secretary, and Ezekiel Kayode as Treasurer, among others.
